This is a full-time position, to begin in September 2019 and continue for the full academic year. This school is growing, with a capacity for 5 form entry from Year 1-6, we are looking for team players who are keen to develop in the role and become part of the school community.

You will be working in an SEN unit on the mainstream school site supporting SEN pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). Feedback from all Teaching and Support staff who have worked in this provision is immensely positive. All have described the students as being interested to learn, responsive and excited to be in class. There are minimal challenging behaviours in this unit. In new purpose-built facilities and grounds, this school is modern and exceptionally well equipped. The space is light, airy and open. With two large school halls, a covered roof top atrium and a large outdoor space, students have a wonderful environment to learn and play in. The school also has a new sensory room and play area for SEN pupils who prefer to play separately.

This school offers many opportunities for long term staff to develop. The school has 5 trained ELSAs (Emotional Literacy Support Assistants) and employ numerous HLTAs, offering growth pathways for the right person. Regular whole staff training sessions are provided to upskill staff on working with special educational needs and individual staff members have also undertaken additional specialist training in a range of areas, including speech and language work.

A major focus of the MLD provision is developing children's' independence by teaching Life Skills. Classes focus on teaching academic skills as well as positive communication, emotional regulation and functional skills that will help each child become a capable adult. Positive rewards systems and regularly celebrating student success are central to the ethos of this friendly SEN provision.

The ideal candidate is:
