Tradewind are currently recruiting for an ASD Teaching Assistant for a Special Needs school in Sutton, South West London. The role is full time and will start from September on a long term basis for the full academic year at least, until July 2021 and will most likely become permanent for the right candidate.

The school provides for students with moderate autism ( ASD / ASC ) aged between 11 and 16 years old.

The main responsibility of this fulfilling role is to support the class teacher during lessons with the educational and social needs of pupils who follow a mainstream curriculum which is adapted to best meet their needs. You will also assist in the practical organisation of class activities and perform 1:1 and group work with students to engage them and ensure their progress. Due to the students' needs and ASD there is a focus on developing Social Skills in lessons and also group sessions improving life skills and communication skills.

Pupils can also access Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Art Therapy, Dramatherapy and a sensory room if needed.

The school is within walking distance from an overground train station and is on a number of popular bus routes.

Essential requirements:
Experience supporting young people with autism / ASD, and learning difficulties.
Previous support work within a school or other child related experience.
Enthusiastic, positive and friendly approach.
A caring and professional manner, willing to support with the personal care of pupils.
Must have legal right to work in the UK.
