Do you want to work in a friendly school in East London where you will be able to be involved with the afterschool club and working with students in Reception and Year 1?

This Primary school is located in East London near Stratford and to the West of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The school can be accessed from Stratford and Hackney Wick Stations and also Pudding Mill Lane DLR. The A12 runs close to the school but parking nearby is limited so commuting by public transport is more desirable.

This Primary School is part of an academy and many from the Primary School go onto the Senior School which is located close by. This school celebrates diversity and teaches children to recognise and respect individual differences as well as similarities. A key ethos of the schools which runs through daily life is to make sure that student's horizons are broadened.

In EYFS the school follows the early years foundation curriculum with its focus on learning through play and direct teaching of key skills. Learning takes places inside and outside of the classroom, and the curriculum focuses heavily on games and activities where children can investigate individually and in groups.

This role requires a general teaching assistant to support classes in Reception and Year 1 and help run the afterschool club at the school. All candidate must be able to commit to a five-day-a-week long-term role to keep the stability for the children that they work with, and the hours of work are 10.00am-6.00pm. Within the day, the teaching assistant will be a general teaching assistant to Reception and Year 1 and also work 1:1 with an autistic child in the class. After school, the TA will run the afterschool club and support the children with autism to continue their learning to aid further progression.

Skills that the school is looking for are someone who has strong communication and can be adaptable to situations that arise throughout the school day. Afterschool this role requires someone to be proactive with the studets and help create fun afterschool activities which all can involve themselves with. Knowledge of the EYFS and Year 1 curriculum is very important, and the school is only accepting applications from Teaching Assistants who have previously worked in these years, and graduates will not be considered. A full understanding of a variety of SEN needs is highly desirable, but they applicant must have autism experience and techniques to work with children with autism as a minimum.

The school is looking for a General Teaching Assistant who has:
*Experience across EYFS and KS1
*A strong personality and someone who can think on their feet
*Knowledge to help plan lessons and adapt resources
*Experience working with SEN especially autism
*The ability to commit to a 10-6pm role
*Legal right to work in the UK
*Enhanced DBS Check and an Overseas Police Check (if necessary)
