The role:
*Key Stage 2 experience needed, ideally within a mainstream classroom
*Experience of supporting the learning and pastoral needs of children with Autism at the high functioning end of the spectrum
*Must have strong behaviour management skills and an understanding of how to support social, emotional and mental health issues (e.g. anxiety)
Pupil Description
*A 9-year-old student awaiting a diagnosis of ASD,
*Capable of working at Age Related Expectations but whose ASD / SEMH can act as a barrier to her achievement
*Very good speech and language but can be quite literal
*Behaviour often spikes around major transitions e.g. school holidays
*Needs support to resolve relationship difficulties due to her tendency to form exclusive friendships
As a Teaching Assistant you:
*Must be an excellent timekeeper (8.30 - 4pm)
*Should ideally live within an easy commute to the school
*Willing to work with a range of children in the classroom through maths and English interventions - not just 1:1 support
*Self-motivated and keen to develop own knowledge and professional skills
*Excellent organisation skills and time management
*Strong communication and team skills
