Tutor experience working with pupils across a Primary or Secondary within an ASD school
Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for enthusiastic Tutor with experience with Primary or secondary age pupils within an ASD school, to work in one of our partnership ASD School in Lancaster. The role is part time Monday - Friday 10am - 12pm and 1pm - 3pm on a 1-2-1 basis with pupils within both Primary and Secondary school. This role is for the rest of the academic year until July 2019.
These Primary and Secondary ASD Schools caters for pupils from Key Stage 2 - Key Stage 4 with and Ofsted rating "Good". The School require a Tutor who has worked with predominantly ASD however, other SEND support may be required.
As a Tutor you are required to have the ability to engage and build rapport using your understanding of Mental Health and tutor background is essential. As a person-centred Tutor, you will be a dynamic, forward thinking and pro-active team player, with passion and commitment to holistically Tutoring the vulnerable pupils in this Primary and Secondary setting in developing and passing their SATs/Functional Skills/ GCSE's in English and Maths.
If you have worked or studied Mental Health and are interested in working in new settings such as this Good SEMH Secondary School based in Lancaster.
You must have a car to be able to work from different sites in and around Lancaster, Carnforth and Kirby Lonsdale in the part time position.
For this position you must have:
*A strong understanding of students with ASD
*Ability to support the student both academically and emotionally in a calm manner, adhere to safeguarding and behavioural policies at all times, and show adherence to professional boundaries. (Positive behaviour management training is highly desirable)
*A collaborative and driven individual who will be able to take directions from the SENCO and other Education professionals.
*Ability to deliver lessons planned by the teacher. Team Teach (desirable not essential as training can be provided)
*Team Teach
*Personal care may be required within the role order pending on individual needs.
Role involves tutoring the learners outside the classroom and on a 1:1 basis. There might be times where tutoring might take place in a group setting inside and outside the classroom within the actual school if integration became possible. It also involves guiding the student emotionally and behaviourally at times of stress and helping them to overcome their barriers to social interaction and emotional recognition. There is great support given in regard to behaviour management.
In return, you will have the advantage of working for a reputable mid-sized ASD school where there is lots of support from the SLT and very experienced learning support and SEN team. You will gain great amount of knowledge about supporting KS2, KS3 & KS4 aged students with behavioural challenges and reporting on behavioural changes as well as learning.
