On behalf of our client school, Tradewind are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, energetic, dynamic and ambitious practitioner who will be responsible for a Year 1 class in Stockport. The role will commence January 2021 and run until the academic year with the potential to be made permanent depending on your success in the role.
About the role
The class (of approximately 30 pupils) are mixed ability so the successful candidate must be able to differentiate lessons to both scaffold and stretch learners to unlock their potential. Experience working with SEN pupils (specifically autism) will be hugely advantageous and you will also be joined by a full time LSA who is very experienced supporting children in Year 1.

It was most recently judged 'Good' by OFSTED and this success was largely due to the strong, experienced Headteacher and dedicated Senior Leadership Team who work harmoniously to devise effective action plans to achieve desired goals contributing to whole school improvement.
The staff are very hard working, supportive and collaborate well across the school to share resources, advice, and areas of expertise to enhance teaching and learning. You will receive high-quality in house CPD throughout the course of the academic year and the opportunity for the right candidate to be supported towards potential leadership roles.
As the Year 1 Class Teacher, your roles and responsibilities will include:
-Planning detailed lessons that inspire and engage pupils allowing for creativity in the classroom
-Differentiating lessons to scaffold and stretch learners allowing pupils as individual learners to maximise their potential
-Effectively reflect on lessons to assess what worked well and what can be improved adjusting plans as necessary to drive learning forward
-Assess learning and provide verbal and written feedback to identify and address misconceptions to bridge gaps in learning
-Plan targeted interventions to consolidate or re-teach as necessary supporting pupils to achieve all learning objectives
-Work well as an individual as well as part of a team and be open to ideas from others as well as sharing knowledge and understanding of your own area of expertise
-Use ICT to enhance learning and allow for cross-curricular opportunities
-Contribute to extra-curricular clubs and attend wider school events in the local community
The school is well known in Stockport due to strong relationships with local families. The school has shown significant growth in academic achievement over recent years and now aims to build on current successes.
To be considered for the Year 1 role, you must:
-Hold QTS or an equivalent teaching certificate
-Have a minimum of 2 years teaching in a KS1 setting (Year 1 - highly desirable)
-Have excellent references to support prior teaching experience KS1
-Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks. Or be happy to undertake a new DBS through us
-Provide a CV with at least 10 years employment/education history included and employment breaks must be explained
-Have the legal right to work in the UK
