Are you looking to inspire the next generation of future leaders? An exciting opportunity to teach in Year 5 after Easter has presented which could potentially result in permanent employment!

Tradewind are looking to recruit a passionate Year 5 teacher to join a fantastic school in Heaton Chapel, Stockport. This is a long-term role will commence April 2024 in a mixed ability Year 5 class and run until at least the end of the academic year with the possibility of being made permanent. The role will be paid to scale from day 1 and support you with high-quality CPD, a supportive working environment and a focus on staff wellbeing.

This is a larger than average school with over 500 pupils on roll and is a high performing school which was most recently judged 'Good' by OFSTED. Data at this school highlights a large percentage of pupils to be working within the national average bracket in reading, writing and maths.

There has been significant growth academically and this success is due to a dedicated Headteacher and supportive team of staff who work harmoniously to achieve positive outcomes with children being at the forefront of all decisions.

The school implement core values across the curriculum which include independence, resilience, cooperation and confidence and believe this effectively equips children to be successful not only at the school but throughout their lives.

As the Year 5 teacher, your responsibilities will be but not limited to:

  • Undertake full class teaching responsibilities for a Year 5 class and comply with behaviour management, assessment and safeguarding policies
  • Complete detailed plans that align with Year 5 National Curriculum standards
  • Plan lessons that are both engaging and inspiring and implement opportunities that make learning applicable to real life scenarios with relevance and purpose
  • Differentiate learning to both scaffold and stretch learners appropriately and plan targeted interventions across all core subjects
  • Review, record and report on pupil performance adjusting lessons where necessary to maximise learning potential
  • Liaise with the SENDCO to report on pupil progress and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions in place
  • Use ICT to keep up-to-date with modern teaching and learning approaches
  • Monitor children's social and emotional wellbeing incorporating reflection time into the daily timetable
  • Contribute to the broad range of extra-curricular activities and attend wider school events

To be successful in this Year 5 teaching role, you must have the following:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Demonstrated success teaching in a KS2 setting (preferably Year 5) with references to support your previous experience
  • Be subject to an enhanced DBS check and Overseas Police Check (if applicable)
  • Have a right to work in the UK
