Job Title: Behaviour Mentors - PRUs & Behavioural Units
Location: Barnet, North West London

Contract Type: Full-Time / Long-Term / Flexible Supply
Salary: Competitive PAYE Rates - Weekly Pay

Tradewind Recruitment is currently working with a range of Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and Behavioural Support Units across Barnet, and we are looking to appoint confident and committed Behaviour Mentors to support students with social, emotional and behavioural needs from September 2025.

These roles are ideal for those with experience in youth work, residential care, sports coaching or behaviour support, and who are passionate about helping young people re-engage with education.

About the Role:

As a Behaviour Mentor in a PRU or behavioural unit, you will:

  • Support pupils aged 11-16 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education

  • Deliver structured mentoring sessions and classroom-based support to manage and improve behaviour

  • Work 1:1 and in small groups to build trust and promote emotional resilience

  • Help create a calm, consistent and nurturing environment

  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to implement individual behaviour plans

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour or trauma

  • A calm, confident and non-judgemental approach

  • Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities

  • Resilience, patience and a genuine desire to make a difference

  • A background in education, youth services, criminal justice, or sports is highly desirable
