SEN Teaching Assistant

Tradewind are working with a Primary School in Wigan who are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team full-time within their SEN Unit. The role is a long- term temporary role starting in September and will run until March 2026, with the potential to be extended.

The school are looking for someone who has previous experience in a PMLD environment or have worked extensively with learners with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), some with associated complex needs including personal care, ASD (Autism), visual impairment challenging behaviours. You will be supporting children through Year1 - Year 6 with varying levels of PMLD, MLD or SEN.

We are looking for:

  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant or equivalent
  • Experience working with PMLD and/or SEN
  • Excellent communication and behaviour management techniques
  • Be confident in dealing with complex needs including personal care
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
  • Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
  • You must have the legal right to work in the UK
