Behaviour Mentor - Make a Difference at a Specialist SEMH School in Camden
Tradewind Recruitment are currently partnering with an outstanding Secondary SEMH School in Camden, looking for a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join their supportive team from September 2025.
This is a full-time, long-term position perfect for someone committed to empowering young people who experience social, emotional, and mental health challenges in their educational journey.
About the Role: You will be instrumental in supporting students with SEND, specifically those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, and complex behavioural presentations. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering targeted 1:1 and small group interventions for pupils facing behavioural and emotional barriers
- Creating and maintaining a nurturing learning environment through consistent, empathetic behaviour management
- Managing crisis situations with de-escalation techniques and encouraging constructive decision-making
- Collaborating effectively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to implement personalised support plans
- Serving as a trusted mentor and positive influence for vulnerable students
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
- Demonstrable experience supporting young people with complex behavioural needs, preferably within an SEMH school, PRU, or similar specialist environment
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and therapeutic approaches to behaviour management
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability in conflict de-escalation
- Emotional resilience, empathy and the ability to remain composed under pressure
- Recognised behaviour management training such as Team Teach or MAPA would be advantageous
- Current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or readiness to obtain one
