SEMH Teaching Assistant

Salary: £90 - £110 per day
Contract: Full‑time, term‑time only
Start Date: September 2025
Location: Blackburn

About Us

Tradewind is recruiting for a specialist provision supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), many with additional diagnoses such as ADHD or autism. Our goal is to create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where pupils can thrive both academically and personally.

The Role

We are seeking a committed and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to:

  • Support individual pupils and small groups with their learning, social skills, and behaviour

  • Implement tailored strategies to help pupils regulate emotions and develop positive relationships

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to deliver personalised support plans

  • Model patience, consistency and high expectations at all times

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs (school or youth work settings)

  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships quickly

  • Strong communication skills with both pupils and adults

  • Resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new approaches (Team Teach training desirable but not essential)
