We are recruitng for a school in St. Helen's who has opened an eight to ten place Primary Age SEMH Resource Provision. This specialised provision will provide a more inclusive offer for pupils with an EHCP at primary age with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs in St Helen's - giving them the opportunity, in time, to be educated alongside their peers. This provision will be opening during the same term as the new state of the art school and the provision is being set up within the new school building ensuring and inclusive offer for all children attending.

Our school is looking for a teaching assistant - with a passion for supporting children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs - to work under the guidance of the SEMH Teacher and SENCO in building positive relationships with the children; with the aim of steering them back into mainstream school when they are ready.

We are looking for somebody who has the ability to:

  • work with children with SEMH needs and the resultant behavioural difficulties including self-regulation needs, in order to help them overcome the difficulties they are experiencing in their education.
  • raise standards of SEMH learners using a range of teaching strategies, in line with the school's policies and procedures.
  • work under the guidance of the SEMH Teacher and SENCO in the planning and implementation of programmes of support for primary aged children with their SEMH concerns.
  • Establish the ethos of the SEMH Provision and support the SEMH Teacher to ensure high standards and consistency.
  • communicate effectively with staff and parents/carers regarding the learning needs of pupils who have SEMH concerns.
