Our Lancashire alternative provision is looking for an exceptional SEN Farm Teacher to join our team in September 2025. This is a rare opportunity to combine your love for outdoor learning with your expertise in Special Educational Needs (SEN) to support vulnerable students.
The Role 🎯
As our SEN Farm Teacher, you will be responsible for:
Bespoke Curriculum Design: Developing and delivering a highly engaging, hands-on farm-based curriculum tailored to the specific needs of students with SEN, including those with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
Experiential Learning: Using the farm environment as a therapeutic and educational tool to teach vocational skills, animal care, horticulture, and cross-curricular subjects.
Individualised Support: Working with small groups and individual students, you will foster a nurturing, trauma-informed environment that helps them build confidence, resilience, and a positive relationship with learning.
Collaboration: You will work closely with our multi-disciplinary team, including pastoral staff, therapists, and external agencies, to ensure a holistic approach to student well-being and progress.

The ideal candidate will be:
Qualified: A qualified teacher (QTS) - (desirable not essential) with proven experience in an alternative provision or SEN setting.
Specialist: Knowledgeable about a range of Special Educational Needs and disabilities, with a focus on delivering a differentiated curriculum.
Practical: Experienced in farm work, animal husbandry, or horticulture and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Resilient: An adaptable and patient professional who is a strong communicator and can manage challenging situations with empathy and a calm approach.
Committed: A passionate advocate for young people who may have become disengaged from mainstream education, with a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection protocols.
