Pastoral Teaching Assistant - SEMH Schools
We're looking for passionate and dedicated Pastoral Teaching Assistants to join our team here at Tradewind Recruitment. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our students. We are looking at building our Pastoral Teaching Assistant talent pool for the new academic year. You will have the opportunity to work with SEMH schools across Hull & East Riding.
As a crucial member of our pastoral care team, you'll provide vital support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning, improve their well-being, and thrive academically. This is more than a job; it's a chance to mentor and empower young people in the heart of the community.
Key Responsibilities & Focus
Student Well-being: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Family Liaison: Act as a key point of contact for parents and carers, building strong relationships to improve communication and student attendance.
Safeguarding: Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to ensure all child protection procedures are followed.
Intervention: Monitor student progress, attendance, and behaviour, implementing targeted interventions to support their development.
Collaboration: Liaise with teaching staff and external agencies (e.g., social services, youth services) to provide comprehensive, multi-agency support.
Essential Skills & Attributes
We're seeking a resilient, empathetic, and proactive individual with:
Proven experience in a pastoral or similar role within a school setting.
A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to build rapport with young people.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team.
A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 3) in social care, youth work, or a related field is highly desirable.
