1-1 Teaching Assistant - Reception (Castlefields, Runcorn)

Location: Castlefields, Runcorn
Contract: Part-time (8:30am - 12:00pm), with potential to increase to full-time
Start Date: Immediate start - long-term role

We are looking for a caring and committed 1-1 Teaching Assistant to support a female pupil in Reception with additional needs. This student is currently on a reduced timetable while she transitions from Nursery, so the role will begin on a part-time basis. Once a regular 1:1 Teaching Assistant is in place, the pupil will gradually phase into school full-time, increasing the hours for the successful candidate.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a child's early education journey, working in a supportive primary school in Castlefields, Runcorn.

The Role

As a 1-1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Reception pupil with SEN, helping her settle and feel secure in school.

• Build trust and positive relationships to encourage confidence and engagement.

• Support her learning and social development, following strategies provided by the teacher and SENCO.

• Adapt activities to meet her individual needs, both academically and emotionally.

• Gradually increase hours in line with the pupil's transition plan, with the role likely becoming full-time.

Requirements

To be successful, you will need:

• Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally in an EYFS or KS1 setting.

• A nurturing, patient and resilient approach to supporting young learners.

• Strong communication skills to work effectively with teachers, SEN staff and parents.

• A valid DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
