Job Description
1-1 Teaching Assistant - Reception (Castlefields, Runcorn)
Location: Castlefields, Runcorn
Contract: Part-time (8:30am - 12:00pm), with potential to increase to full-time
Start Date: Immediate start - long-term role
We are looking for a caring and committed 1-1 Teaching Assistant to support a female pupil in Reception with additional needs. This student is currently on a reduced timetable while she transitions from Nursery, so the role will begin on a part-time basis. Once a regular 1:1 Teaching Assistant is in place, the pupil will gradually phase into school full-time, increasing the hours for the successful candidate.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a child's early education journey, working in a supportive primary school in Castlefields, Runcorn.
The Role
As a 1-1 Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Reception pupil with SEN, helping her settle and feel secure in school.
Build trust and positive relationships to encourage confidence and engagement.
Support her learning and social development, following strategies provided by the teacher and SENCO.
Adapt activities to meet her individual needs, both academically and emotionally.
Gradually increase hours in line with the pupil's transition plan, with the role likely becoming full-time.
Requirements
To be successful, you will need:
Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally in an EYFS or KS1 setting.
A nurturing, patient and resilient approach to supporting young learners.
Strong communication skills to work effectively with teachers, SEN staff and parents.
A valid DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
