Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Primary School
Location: Southend On Sea
Start Date: ASAP!

We are currently recruiting for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant (SEN TA / LSA) to join the school's supportive team, to start ASAP. This is a full-time role, working alongside a dedicated Class Teacher and experienced SENDCo to deliver personalised learning support for pupils with additional needs.

About the Role:

  • Providing 1:1 support and leading small group interventions.

  • Adapting learning activities to suit individual pupil needs.

  • Supporting inclusion and promoting emotional wellbeing.

  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.

  • Contributing to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) documentation and reviews.

Experience Supporting One or More of the Following Needs is Beneficial:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)

  • Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)

  • Specific Learning Difficulties (e.g., Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia)

  • Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)

  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

  • Global Developmental Delay (GDD), and more

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have previous experience working with children with special educational needs in a school, nursery, or care setting.

  • Be patient, empathetic, and adaptable to a range of learning styles and needs.

  • Be passionate about inclusive education and supporting children's holistic development.

  • Work well independently and as part of a dynamic team.

  • Hold a relevant qualification or bring equivalent experience (desirable but not essential).
