Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking exceptional learning Support Assistants to work across Pupil Referral Units and alternative provisions throughout North London. These specialist settings support vulnerable students with complex SEMH needs who require expert behavioural and emotional intervention to unlock their educational potential. We have full-time, long-term positions available starting now with excellent prospects for permanent placements.

As a LSA you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering targeted behavioural interventions and evidence-based therapeutic strategies for students with complex SEMH needs
  • Facilitating individual and small group sessions to develop emotional regulation, resilience, and positive coping mechanisms
  • Skillfully de-escalating crisis situations and providing immediate trauma-informed support during challenging episodes
  • Implementing bespoke behaviour support plans and therapeutic approaches tailored to individual student needs
  • Cultivating positive, trusting relationships that inspire student engagement, confidence, and measurable academic progress
  • Collaborating effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, families, and external agencies to ensure holistic student support
  • Maintaining detailed behavioural observations, incident reports, and progress tracking to inform ongoing interventions
  • Supporting curriculum delivery while simultaneously addressing underlying behavioural and emotional barriers to learning

To excel in this role you will need:

  • Proven experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs in educational, therapeutic, or residential care settings
  • Strong knowledge of behaviour management techniques, de-escalation strategies, and trauma-informed approaches
  • Exceptional emotional resilience and ability to remain calm, professional, and supportive during high-pressure situations
  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (where applicable) and exemplary professional references
  • Comprehensive employment history covering the previous 10 years where possible
  • Right to work in the UK

Daily rate: £90 - £140 (increased after 12 weeks in role)
