Tradewind Recruitment are currently working with a specialist SEND school in Rochdale to recruit a versatile and dedicated English Teacher for a full-time temporary supply role starting in September 2025.
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to deliver English across a range of classes within a well-established special school. The role involves teaching students with a variety of needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
You will be supported by a strong team of experienced teaching assistants and work collaboratively with class teachers and the wider staff team to adapt your teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of learners.
The Role:
- Teaching English across multiple key stages within a specialist SEND school
- Full-time role: Monday to Friday, 8.30 am - 3.30 pm
- Planning and delivering differentiated English lessons tailored to individual learning profiles
- Supporting a range of learners, from those developing early communication and engagement skills to those working toward Entry Level or Functional Skills qualifications
- Working in partnership with class-based teams, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to student development
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold QTS or QTLS with a specialism or strong background in English
- Have experience teaching students with SEND, or a strong desire to adapt practice for complex learning needs
- Be confident in delivering English to students with varying cognitive, communication, and emotional needs
- Show flexibility, creativity, and resilience in adapting teaching styles and materials
- Work effectively with teaching assistants and therapists as part of a wider classroom team
- Demonstrate a commitment to inclusive education and to helping every pupil make meaningful progress

To join us and be successful in this English Teacher role, you will need to:
- Hold QTS or QTLS
- Have experience teaching English at secondary level and be confident adapting for SEND learners
- Provide a full CV with employment history and explain any gaps
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
- Have the legal right to work in the UK
