About the Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children who may display challenging behaviour, have experienced trauma, or require additional emotional support. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams, you will:

  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress.

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for children with SEMH needs.

  • Assist in managing behaviour in a positive and consistent way.

  • Support the delivery of a creative and nurturing curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.

  • Help foster resilience, confidence, and independence in pupils.

What We're Looking For

To succeed as an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or in a care/mentoring role.

  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with pupils who may show challenging behaviours.

  • The ability to adapt to different situations and meet pupils where they are in their learning journey.

  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential due to location).
