Are you a mainstream Teaching Assistant ready to make a meaningful career transition into specialist SEN support?

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking dedicated TAs to move into SEN roles across North London in specialist SEN schools (dedicated schools exclusively for students with additional needs) and SEN Additionally Resourced Provisions (ARPs) - specialist units within mainstream schools providing intensive support for students with autism, learning difficulties, or complex SEMH challenges. Full-time, long-term positions available now with excellent prospects for permanent placements.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will:

  • Support students with autism, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and SEMH challenges
  • Implement individualized learning programs, visual timetables, and sensory support strategies
  • Use specialized communication aids including Makaton, PECS, and social stories
  • Manage challenging behaviors using positive behavior support and de-escalation techniques
  • Collaborate with SENCOs, therapists, and families for comprehensive student support
  • Maintain detailed progress records and behavior observations

You will need:

  • TA experience with passion to specialize in SEN
  • Willingness to undertake SEN training and develop expertise
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Enhanced DBS and excellent professional references
  • Right to work in the UK

Daily rate: £90 - £140 (increased after 12 weeks in role)
