If you are looking to make a difference in young people’s lives, then a Nursery Job in Hull is the perfect role for you. Here at Tradewind Recruitment, we provide candidates with nursery jobs in Hull and all across the UK on a daily basis, from junior level jobs to management roles within nurseries. So it doesn’t matter if you are experienced or not, we have got a range of jobs available in the childcare sector.

Working within a nursery, you must have a proactive mindset, mature mentality and a positive and calm exterior. You will be working closely with children to develop their vital skills and watching them grow on a day-to-date basis. You must be an organised individual when it comes to paperwork as you’ll be keeping children’s development records up to date while creating imaginative activities on a daily basis. You will also be ensuring each child is collected by someone known to nursery every day.

For a nursery role you need to show you can work as part of a team and individually as you'll be working with other members of the staff, but you can ultimately be left in charge of your own key children’s development. The experience you will gain from working in a nursery can become vital in the future, whether you stay in childcare, go into teaching or maybe even start in a different sector. The knowledge you gain is versatile and adapts to various jobs in different ways. Let Tradewind Recruitment help you find a Nursery Job in Hull today.

Key roles in a Nursery

  • Keep a watchful eye on children’s behaviour, encouraging shy children to participate.
  • Supervising children throughout the day including meal times and play time.
  • Helping them to the toilet, cleaning them if they get messy and changing nappies (if you are working within that age range).
  • Create development programmes for each key child; maintain discipline while children develop their learning skills.
  • Participate in training days and staff meetings.

Will I need Qualifications to work in a Nursery

To work in a nursery, you don’t necessarily need any qualifications. Nurseries will vary in what they are looking for in a candidate, some will be looking for qualified employees, and some are willing to take on unqualified candidates. However, if you don’t have any qualifications, then you must have some work experience within the childcare sector. This will show the employer that you have hands-on experience looking after children. You will also need a good background in education having at least grades A*-C at GCSE level.

Requirements to work in a Nursery

  • Experience working with infants under the age of 5 years old.
  • GCSE level qualifications graded A*-C, particularly in the core subjects.
  • You will need an up to date DBS check before you can work with children.

Improving my chances of getting the job

Even though you might not need any qualifications to work in a nursery, they do improve your chances of getting a job and standing out from the crowd. Qualifications can vary from a BTEC in Nursery Nursing to a National Nursery Examination Board (NNEB) Diploma. Here are just a few more you could undertake: Level 3 Diploma in Pre-School Practice, Level 2 Early Years Education and Childcare qualification, and having a First Aid Qualification can also be desirable.
