If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our renowned school in Berkhamsted as a One-to-One Learning Support Assistant in Year 5!

Position Overview: As a One-to-One Learning Support Assistant, you will be working closely with a remarkable Year 5 student who has autism. Your role will be crucial in helping them navigate their academic journey while supporting their social and emotional development. By providing tailored support and encouragement, you will empower the student to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a trusting and empathetic relationship with the student, fostering a sense of security and comfort.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and relevant professionals to create individualized learning plans for the student.
  • Implement strategies to promote academic progress and ensure the student's specific learning needs are met.
  • Assist the student with their daily tasks, such as organizing materials, following schedules, and completing assignments.
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive environment, encouraging positive social interactions and independent learning.
  • Monitor and document the student's progress, highlighting areas of improvement and providing feedback to parents and the school team.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working with students with autism or special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders and familiarity with effective support strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling you to liaise effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the student.
