Are you a secondary teacher or SEN teacher with QTS, and experience teaching children with autism, interested in teaching students with special needs?

Tradewind are currently recruiting for a qualified SEN Teacher to work at a Special Needs secondary school in Southwark, the role is teaching a range of classes or bubbles, from key stage 3 to key stage 4 planning and teaching scheduled lessons including PE, maths, English and ICT. The pupils are working on a different model where a lesson could be taught a few times a week to a variety of classes in the Secondary bubble which saves on planning time.

The school is a complex mixed needs special secondary (age range 11 - 19) school situated in Camberwell, in the London Borough of Southwark. The school has 147 pupils on roll. Every pupil has a statement of Special Educational Needs. All of the schools pupils have severe or moderate learning disabilities (SLD/MLD) and come from a mix of Southwark Primary and Special schools. The school is oversubscribed. In addition to the teaching staff one full time and one part-time Speech and Language therapist, one day a week Occupational therapy, Family worker and a Full-time work experience coordinator. The school also has strong links with CAMHS, the School Nursing Service and with the Early Help team.

There are services offered to students by the school such as play therapy, speech and language therapy and an educational psychologist who will work collaboratively with you and other teachers, ensuring that pupils can engage in learning and reach their full potential. The school's ethos is to ensure children are able to build confidence, make progress with their learning, improve social skills and behaviour and when possible, return to mainstream school.

Essential requirements:

-QTS, qualified teacher status.

-Experience planning and teaching lessons to primary aged students following the National Curriculum.

-Experience with SEN, specifically complex needs

-Experience supporting young people with special educational needs, specifically Social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

-Enthusiastic, resilient and positive approach.

-Must have legal right to work in the UK.
