Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with a background in drama to join our team in a SEN unit based in Tottenham. The successful candidate will work closely with secondary-aged pupils who have a range of needs and are unable to access the mainstream curriculum without additional support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs, including those with learning difficulties, disabilities, or behavioural challenges.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging and inclusive drama activities to enhance students' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and SENCOs to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behavioural strategies.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes confidence, independence, and self-expression among students.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to address students' specific learning goals and overcome barriers to learning.
  • Monitor students' progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents/carers as required.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with secondary-aged students with special educational needs, ideally within a SEN unit or similar setting.
  • A background or qualification in drama, theatre, or performing arts, with a passion for using creative methods to support learning and development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in working with students who may display challenging behaviour or have complex needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the diverse needs of students and contribute effectively to a collaborative team environment.
