Support Assistant - Hearing Impaired Children and Young Adults
Location: Leicester
Hours: 8:00-3:30
Contract: Through Tradewind Recruitment
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with hearing impairments? We are seeking a dedicated Support Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) qualifications to join our inclusive and caring team of educators.
About the Role
As a Support Assistant, you will work closely with children and young adults who are deaf or hearing impaired, helping them access education and social opportunities in a supportive environment. Your role will involve:
Providing one-to-one or group support in classrooms and other settings
Assisting with communication using BSL and other appropriate methods
Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and families to create tailored support plans
Promoting confidence, independence, and inclusion
What We're Looking For
BSL qualification (minimum Level 2 required, Level 3+ preferred)
Experience working with children or young adults with hearing impairments is desirable
Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
A positive, proactive attitude and commitment to inclusion and equality
