Teaching Assistant

Location: Rushden, Northamptonshire

Are you passionate about supporting young people during a crucial stage of their education? Secondary schools across Rushden are looking for committed and adaptable Teaching Assistants to join their teams from September 2025. These full-time roles offer the chance to work closely with students aged 11-16, supporting academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and personal development in a vibrant, fast-paced school environment.

About the Role:

  • Provide in-class support across a range of subjects, including English, Maths, Science, and Humanities

  • Work one-to-one or with small groups to support students who may be struggling academically or socially

  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery, behaviour management, and resource preparation

  • Support pupils with additional needs, including SEND, SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health), or EAL

  • Foster a positive and respectful classroom culture that supports all learners

  • Help students build confidence, improve study skills, and prepare for assessments

  • Support with supervision during break/lunch times and transitions between lessons

We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students (in schools, tutoring, youth work, or mentoring)

  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • A genuine interest in education, learning, and adolescent development

  • Ability to adapt and build positive relationships with a wide range of students

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and behaviour support strategies is desirable

  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial, but not essential - full training provided
