Job Description

This Secondary Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our dynamic and supportive pastoral team.

We are committed to the well-being of our students and their families, and you will play a crucial role in providing early help and pastoral support to our vulnerable pupils. As a key member of our school community, you'll work closely with parents, teachers, and external agencies to help overcome barriers to learning and ensure every child thrives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong, positive relationships with students and their families, acting as a key point of contact.

  • Work collaboratively with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to implement safeguarding and child protection policies.

  • Conduct home visits and meetings to offer parental engagement and practical advice on issues like attendance and behavior support.

  • Serve as a Family Liaison Officer, connecting families with essential multi-agency resources and support services.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, and contribute to early help assessments.


The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone with a genuine passion for making a difference. You should possess:

  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 3 or higher) in social care, social work, or a related field.

  • Proven experience working with children and families, preferably in a school or educational setting.

  • Exceptional communication and empathy skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with resilience and professionalism.

  • A strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and policies.
