Pastoral Support Worker - Blackpool Secondary School 🏫

We're looking for a passionate and dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to join our team in a thriving Blackpool secondary school. This is an exciting opportunity to start a new role in September 2025 and make a real difference in the lives of our students.

As a crucial member of our pastoral care team, you'll provide vital support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning, improve their well-being, and thrive academically. This is more than a job; it's a chance to mentor and empower young people in the heart of the community.

Key Responsibilities & Focus 🎯

  • Student Well-being: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

  • Family Liaison: Act as a key point of contact for parents and carers, building strong relationships to improve communication and student attendance.

  • Safeguarding: Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to ensure all child protection procedures are followed.

  • Intervention: Monitor student progress, attendance, and behaviour, implementing targeted interventions to support their development.

  • Collaboration: Liaise with teaching staff and external agencies (e.g., social services, youth services) to provide comprehensive, multi-agency support.

Essential Skills & Attributes

We're seeking a resilient, empathetic, and proactive individual with:

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or similar role within a school setting.

  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to build rapport with young people.

  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team.

  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 3) in social care, youth work, or a related field is highly desirable.
