Latin & Classics Teacher
State Boys School - Westminster, London
A prestigious all boys school located in Westminster is seeking a passionate and experienced Latin and Classics Teacher for paternity cover. This exciting opportunity is a full-time position, though part-time applicants will be considered. The role is set to begin as soon as possible and will last for two weeks minimum.
Role Overview:
As a Classics Teacher, you will inspire students in the study of classical languages and cultures, fostering a deep appreciation for ancient civilizations while encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and academic achievement. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons, engaging students in both Latin and Ancient Greek, and guiding them through the fascinating world of Classical studies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Latin and/or Ancient Greek to students across different year groups.
- Develop and deliver engaging and academically challenging lessons that enhance students' understanding of the classical world.
- Foster a love of Classics by creating an inspiring and supportive classroom environment.
- Encourage critical thinking and analytical skills through the study of classical texts, history, and philosophy.
- Provide a nurturing environment where students can grow both academically and personally, ensuring each pupil reaches their full potential.
- Actively contribute to the school community, collaborating with other faculty members and participating in school activities.
Qualifications and Person Specification:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- A degree in Classics or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching Classics at secondary school level.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring students in the study of classical languages and cultures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A supportive and approachable teaching style, with a commitment to fostering students' academic growth and well-being.
