The School

This specialist SEND primary school in Brent provides a calm, structured learning environment for pupils with autism. The school offers:

  • Small class sizes (around 8 pupils) supported by 2-3 teaching assistants

  • A curriculum based on the National Curriculum with tailored pathways

  • A focus on creative subjects - music, art, PE, and drama - to enrich learning

  • Strong track record of pupil progress and successful transfers to mainstream secondary schools

The Role

You will lead a Lower KS2 class of approximately 8 pupils, supported by experienced teaching assistants. Lessons are designed to meet individual EHCP targets, delivered in a creative, nurturing, and structured way.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and teaching engaging lessons adapted to pupil needs

  • Managing a small, well-supported class environment

  • Collaborating with TAs, therapists, and the wider SEND team

  • Contributing to staff briefings, transition planning, and whole-school development

Ideal Candidate

  • ECT or qualified KS2 Teacher

  • Interest in or experience of SEND education (particularly autism/ASC)

  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills

  • Creative, flexible, and willing to adapt teaching to meet pupil needs
