Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Primary
Location: DE24

Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Term-time only (39 weeks), Monday-Friday, approx. 8:30-15:30
Salary: £90-£110 per day (PAYE)

About the Role:

We're seeking a dedicated and nurturing Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive primary or SEN school from September. This role focuses on providing 1:1 support for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), helping them access learning, regulate emotions, and build confidence in a safe and inclusive environment.

You'll work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to implement personalised strategies and interventions tailored to each child's needs-whether they relate to autism, ADHD, speech and language, or SEMH.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support for pupils with EHCPs across EYFS, KS1 or KS2
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to suit individual needs
  • Support emotional regulation, social interaction, and sensory needs
  • Implement structured interventions (e.g. Zones of Regulation, social stories)
  • Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and SEN planning
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and staff

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND, ideally with EHCPs
  • Level 2/3 TA qualification or equivalent
  • Empathy, patience, and a proactive approach to inclusive education
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

Desirable:

  • Experience in autism, SEMH, or speech & language support
  • Familiarity with EHCP processes and documentation
  • Training in behaviour management or trauma-informed approaches
