Science Technician

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our thriving Science Department on a full-time basis. This is a unique opportunity for someone with a strong background in science and a passion for education to play a key role in both the practical and teaching aspects of science delivery across Key Stage 3.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support the preparation and delivery of engaging and safe practical science lessons. In addition to technician duties, there is an expectation to teach Key Stage 3 Science, helping to inspire and nurture a love of science in our younger students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain equipment and materials for practical science lessons.

  • Ensure laboratories are maintained in a safe, clean, and organised manner.

  • Support the implementation of health and safety procedures within the department.

  • Assist in the delivery of Key Stage 3 Science lessons (up to approximately [insert % or number of lessons per week]).

  • Collaborate with teachers to develop engaging resources and learning experiences.

  • Support extracurricular science clubs, events, and enrichment activities as required.

Person Specification:

  • A strong background in science (minimum A-levels; degree desirable).

  • Experience working in a laboratory or educational setting.

  • Confidence and competence to teach or support KS3 science lessons.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

  • A proactive, flexible, and collaborative approach to work.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
