A bustling and creative 2-from entry school in Waltham Forest is looking for a strong, resilient teaching assistant to join their school!

The role would be to working 1:1 with a boy in year 4 who has Autism. The student is verbal and can display challenging behaviour.

The school is ideally looking for a teaching assistant who is experienced with Autism/special needs, however, they are open to someone less experienced who has the right personality and attitude, and could adapt to the role quickly and be successful.

As a teaching assistant working 1, you will:

  • Provide in class support to the pupil with Autism
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher and the SENCO to plan and adapt activities to meet the pupil's specific needs
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for the pupil, promoting his social integration with his peers
  • Provide predictable routines and clear boundaries
  • Manage challenging behaviour calmly, implement de-escalation strategies, and follow behaviour support plans
