Job Description
Tradewind are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join the team in a Secondary school in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will support pupils and Teachers in providing a supportive and welcoming educational setting in which to achieve to the best of their abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Support the teacher in planning, delivering and assessing lessons in accordance with the national curriculum.
- Work with individual children and small groups, providing differentiated support and encouragement to meet their specific needs.
- Use a range of specialist strategies and resources to support children with autism, such as visual aids, social stories and sensory activities.
- Assist in developing children's communication, social, emotional and behavioural skills.
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each child.
- Help to maintain accurate records and progress reports to inform ongoing planning and assessment.
Requirements:
- Experience of working with children or young people, knowledge or experience of supporting pupils with special educational needs (particularly autism) is an advantage but not essential.
- A good command of maths and English and how to effectively support children
- Ability to use a range of specialist strategies and resources to support children with autism.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals.
- Highly organised with good record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate a positive, flexible and proactive attitude.
