Behaviour Support Assistant

Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join our SEN school team. The role focuses on supporting students with behavioural, emotional, and social challenges, promoting positive behaviour, and creating a safe and nurturing learning environment. This position offers hands-on experience in behaviour management strategies and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement and reinforce individual behaviour support plans, strategies, and interventions as designed by teachers, psychologists, or behaviour specialists.
Support students in developing emotional regulation, social skills, and coping strategies.
Assist students in resolving conflicts and building positive relationships with peers and staff.
Observe, record, and report on student behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and progress, ensuring accurate and timely feedback to the teaching team.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and senior staff to adapt strategies to meet individual student needs.
Contribute to school-wide behaviour initiatives, supporting a consistent and positive school culture.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Promote inclusion and respect for diversity, ensuring all students feel valued and supported.
Ideal Candidate:
Calm, patient, and empathetic, with the ability to respond consistently in challenging situations.
Strong interest in psychology, child development, education, or behaviour management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with students, staff, and families.
Observant and organised, with attention to detail for tracking progress and documenting behaviour data.
Ability to follow structured strategies and guidance while being flexible to adapt to individual student needs.
A proactive team player who contributes positively to the wider school environment.
