Functional Skills Teacher (Part-Time) | Alternative Provision | Leicester

We are seeking a flexible and dedicated Functional Skills Teacher to join our team at a nurturing alternative provision school in Leicester. This is a unique part-time role that involves teaching alongside a commitment to providing 2-3 days of dedicated marking per month.


The Role: Functional Skills Teacher, Leicester

As a Functional Skills Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and practical lessons in English and Maths to students who have faced challenges in mainstream education. Your role will be crucial in helping our young people gain essential qualifications that will support their future careers and lives. .

Key responsibilities include:

  • Teaching: Delivering high-quality lessons in Functional Skills English and Maths.

  • Assessment & Marking: Dedicating 2-3 days per month to marking student work and providing constructive feedback.

  • Curriculum Development: Adapting the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of our students.

  • Pastoral Support: Providing one-on-one support and encouragement to students to help them succeed.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a relevant teaching qualification is essential.

  • Experience teaching Functional Skills English and Maths, or similar qualifications.

  • A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage your time effectively.

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude.

  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs (e.g., SEN/SEMH) is highly desirable.
