SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary School, Brent | ASAP Start

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and diverse secondary school in Brent that is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team ASAP. This full-time, long-term role is ideal for a degree-qualified individual with a compassionate, proactive approach who is committed to helping students with a range of learning needs thrive both academically and personally.


About the Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with a variety of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning delays.

  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum across a range of subjects, including English, Maths, and Science.

  • Work closely with the SENCO, classroom teachers, and external specialists to implement individual education plans (IEPs).

  • Support behaviour for learning, emotional regulation, and social development within the classroom.

  • Help to adapt resources and teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Monitor and record student progress, reporting back to the SEN team and contributing to regular reviews.


What We're Looking For:

  • A UK degree (or equivalent) is essential.

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally in an educational setting.

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach with strong behaviour management skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to adapt quickly and work flexibly in response to student needs.

  • A good understanding of safeguarding and the importance of inclusion in education.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
