Level 3 Animal Management Tutors
Location: Dover
Contract Type: 3 days a week 8.25am to 16.45pm Weds to Fri and potentially biweekly on a Tuesday for the staff team meeting
Some planning has been completed by the current tutor who will be going on maternity in the next month, PPA/marking time will be given within the timetable.
We work with independent specialist colleges in rural Kent who support young people aged 6-19 who have special educational needs or have been out of education. Set in a countryside location, they blend classroom learning with practical outdoor activities to build confidence and real-world skills. Students study qualifications in English, maths, preparation for adulthood and vocational subjects such as animal care, catering and land-based industries. With a strong focus on inclusion, they foster equal opportunities, value every learner, and work closely with parents and carers.

Are you passionate about animal care and dedicated to inspiring the next generation of animal management professionals? We are seeking an enthusiastic Level 3 Animal Management Tutor to join our dynamic team. You will teach both Level 3 Animal Management (Year 2) and Level 2 Animal Care learners, helping them gain the skills and knowledge to excel in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured sessions in line with the curriculum, schemes of work, and provision plans.
Coordinate and oversee work-experience placements for Level 2 and Level 3 students, working closely with the industry placement coordinator.
Assess, monitor, record, and report on student progress and achievements, ensuring accurate and productive use of assessment.
Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse strengths and needs of students, inspiring and challenging them to achieve their best.
Prepare students for internal and external assessments and promote excellent outcomes.
Demonstrate up-to-date subject and curriculum knowledge, incorporating the latest industry developments.
Lead by example, maintaining the highest professional and personal standards while modelling best practice in animal care.
Qualifications & Training
A relevant qualification in Animal Care, Agriculture, or a related field (minimum Level 3)
Evidence of recent professional development relevant to the role.
Desirable Experience
Teaching or tutoring experience in an educational or training environment.
Experience working with children or young people, including those with Special Educational Needs
Involvement in planning and delivering learning activities.
Skills & Knowledge
Strong technical problem-solving skills with a proactive, self-motivated approach.
Ability to create a positive, student-focused learning environment and provide high-quality support.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with students and colleagues.
Understanding of diverse student needs and strategies to adapt and deliver support accordingly.
Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills, including the use of technology to support learning.
Strong organisational abilities and the capacity to remain calm under pressure.
Knowledge of safeguarding practices and the ability to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
Excellent communication skills, including active listening and clear verbal delivery.
