Primary SEN Teacher - Year 5

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a group of OFSTED Good (2023) specialist schools in Dover for pupils aged 5-16. Each school provides a nurturing, therapeutic environment for children with Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs), reflecting a range of complex needs, including SEMH, ASD, MLD, PTSD, ADHD, ODD, FASD, OCD, attachment difficulties, personality disorders, and specific learning difficulties.

Across these settings, the main identified needs are:

  • Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH): 70%

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): 30%

Many pupils have experienced disrupted education and join at various points from Year 1 to Year 11, so every lesson and relationship makes a real difference.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Year 5 Primary SEN Teacher to join one of our partner schools immediately. You will teach a small, well-supported class and work alongside skilled Teaching Assistants and a highly experienced SEN leadership team.

  • Planning Options: Choose the arrangement that suits you:

    • Full planning and marking responsibilities, or

    • Planning provided by the school with only marking required

About You

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Enhanced child-only DBS on the update service is a must!
  • Experience with SEN/SEMH/ASD pupils (desirable, but we welcome applications from teachers with a genuine passion for inclusive education)

  • Resilient, compassionate, and creative in your approach to teaching
