Inspiring Maths Teacher Required - Long-Term Supply Role in SEND
Start: Autumn Term Location: Heywood, Rochdale Role: Full-time
Are you a passionate Maths Teacher with experience supporting students with special educational needs? Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a nurturing, inclusive SEND school in Heywood, Rochdale, to recruit a SEND Maths Teacher to cover a temporary absence.
The school supports learners from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4, many of whom have SEN and SEMH needs, and is dedicated to providing a trauma-informed, aspirational learning environment where every student is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including the delivery of GCSE Maths and alternative accredited qualifications. You'll be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, accessible maths lessons that meet the diverse needs of students with a range of learning profiles. The focus will be on practical, applied teaching strategies that make maths meaningful and achievable for all learners, particularly those who face barriers to traditional academic learning.
You will work collaboratively with a skilled team of teaching assistants, SEN professionals, and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure students receive the tailored academic and emotional support they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching maths to three pathways of students
- Nurture pathway
- For learners with high relational and sensory needs. Focused on emotional safety, regulation, and social emotional skills.
Curriculum: Functional Skills, practical and vocational learning to build confidence and lifelong opportunities. - Thrive Pathway
- For learners ready for a balance of structure and therapeutic support
- Curriculum: Academic subjects, life skills, and vocational qualifications tailored to individual progress in both learning and wellbeing.
- Aspire Pathway
- For learners with academic readiness and independence.
- Curriculum: Qualifications, skills for life, and future planning to prepare them for success beyond school.
To be successful in this SEND Maths Teacher role, you will need:
- QTS or QTLS status
- Recent experience teaching maths to students aged 11-16, particularly those with SEN and/or SEMH
- A solid understanding of GCSE maths curriculum and alternative KS4 qualifications
- A full CV with a detailed employment and education history, explaining any gaps
- Enhanced DBS Disclosure and professional references
- Legal right to work in the UK
