Graduate Teaching Assistant - Secondary School, Harrow | ASAP Start

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Harrow, which is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team ASAP. This full-time, long-term role is ideal for a degree-qualified individual who is considering a career in teaching or education and is eager to make a meaningful impact on students' academic and personal development.

About the Role:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide in-class support across key subjects such as English, Maths, and Science.

  • Work one-to-one and in small groups with students who may need additional academic or emotional support.

  • Collaborate with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver interventions and promote positive learning behaviour.

  • Assist in preparing and adapting lesson materials to suit a range of student needs.

  • Support students' social and emotional growth, contributing to a positive school culture.

  • Gain valuable insight and experience ideal for those pursuing teacher training in the future.

Requirements:

  • A degree (or equivalent) is essential.

  • Experience working with young people (in schools, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, etc.) is highly desirable.

  • A patient, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to supporting student learning.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A genuine interest in education and potential plans for teacher training.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
