ASC Teaching Assistant

Now, we're looking for committed and compassionate ASC (Autistic Spectrum Conditions) Teaching Assistants to support pupils in Weston-Super-Mare and the surrounding areas.

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to support children and young people on the autistic spectrum in specialist SEN schools. As a ASC Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and develop socially, emotionally and academically in a nurturing, structured environment.

What you'll be doing:
 Supporting students with ASC on a 1:1 or small group basis
 Assisting with communication, sensory regulation and life skills development
 Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs and behaviour plans
 Working closely with SEN Teachers, therapists, and support teams
 Promoting inclusion, independence, and emotional wellbeing

What we're looking for:
 Experience supporting children or young people with ASC
 Previous work or voluntary experience in SEN schools or care settings
 A calm, consistent, and nurturing approach
 An understanding of sensory processing needs and communication challenges
 A valid, enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Relevant training (e.g. Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, Autism Awareness) is highly desirable.

The role:
 Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, term time only
 Pay: from £90 per day
 Flexible: part-time or full-time options available
 Start: Immediate starts available (with potential for permanent contracts for the right person)
 Location: North Somerset
