Locations: Chesterfield & Chapel-en-le-Frith
Contract: Full-time / Term-time only
Start Date: ASAP
Driving Required

We are seeking an experienced, resilient and highly motivated Pastoral Officer (Grade 8) to work across our two Pupil Referral Units: one primary setting based in Chesterfield and one secondary setting in Chapel-en-le-Frith.

This is a pivotal role supporting some of our most vulnerable and high-needs pupils, ensuring they feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

About the Role

You will:

  • Provide daily pastoral support to pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs.

  • Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils, families and external agencies.

  • Support attendance, safeguarding checks, behaviour interventions and reintegration packages.

  • Travel between both sites as required (driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential).

  • Contribute to multi-agency meetings, behaviour planning and crisis support.

  • Uphold the ethos and values of both PRUs, ensuring a calm, nurturing and structured environment.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working in a pastoral, safeguarding or behaviour support role-preferably in alternative provision or PRU settings.

  • Ideally has DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) experience or advanced safeguarding training.

  • Is confident, resilient and able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and professionally.

  • Has excellent communication skills and can work effectively across both primary and secondary age groups.

  • Can prioritise workload, work independently, and remain solution-focused in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to drive and travel independently between Chesterfield and Chapel-en-le-Frith.

What We Offer

  • A committed and supportive team across both sites.

  • Opportunities for professional development, including safeguarding and behaviour training.

  • A rewarding role where you can make a significant difference to young people's lives and futures.
