Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated, patient and highly supportive Teaching Assistant specialising in physical disabilities and medical needs to join caring and inclusive SEND provisions in Northampton. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about ensuring children and young people with complex physical needs receive the personalised support, dignity, and access to learning they deserve.
In this role, you will be working with students who experience a range of physical disabilities, mobility challenges, medical conditions, and related learning barriers. Many students require support with positioning, movement, personal care, and the safe use of specialist equipment such as hoists, standing frames, wheelchairs, and communication devices. Some will also have associated medical needs that require consistent monitoring, calm problem-solving, and the ability to follow clear care plans with precision.
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience supporting students with physical disabilities or medical needs, or be keen to learn with full training
Demonstrate empathy, emotional resilience, and a commitment to providing safe, dignified care
Be confident in supporting physiotherapy routines, mobility exercises, and sensory-based interventions under guidance from medical and therapy professionals
Understand the importance of promoting independence, student voice, and equal participation in all aspects of school life
Be able to remain calm and attentive when responding to medical situations, following established protocols and working closely with the wider team
Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, nurses, and therapists to ensure each student receives consistent, personalised support
Foster a positive, respectful, and empowering environment where every young person feels valued and included
Your daily responsibilities may include assisting with mobility and transfers, supporting personal care needs, facilitating classroom engagement, implementing therapy programmes, monitoring wellbeing, and enabling students to access learning in ways that are safe, comfortable, and tailored to their abilities.
This role is perfect for someone who finds purpose in helping young people overcome barriers, celebrate achievements, and develop confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
If you are committed to supporting students with physical and medical needs and are ready to make a meaningful difference, apply today through Tradewind Recruitment and join a team that puts student wellbeing at the heart of everything they do.
