Job Description

We are urgently seeking outstanding, resilient and compassionate tutors to join our growing team delivering high-quality, face-to-face tuition to children and young people in Key Stages 2-5 who are currently unable to attend school. All roles are based across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Who we need

  • Qualified Teachers (QTS or QTLS) or experienced tutors with a strong track record in primary, secondary or SEN settings
  • Specialists in English, Maths, Science, Functional Skills, GCSE preparation and resits (we particularly welcome combined-subject tutors)
  • Confident professionals with proven experience (or a genuine desire to work) with learners who present with:
    • Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
    • Anxiety and school refusal
    • Autism, ADHD, SPD and other SEND
    • Looked-After Children and those with trauma backgrounds
    • Highly disengaged or school-phobic young people

What the role looks like

  • 1:1 or very small-group tuition in students' homes or community venues across Hull and the East Riding
  • Sessions typically 2-3 hours, 2-5 days per week (we can offer anything from 10-30+ hours per week)
  • Short-term interventions through to long-term packages (term-time only or year-round contracts available)
  • Full planning and resources provided where needed, or freedom to plan your own lessons
  • Regular supervision, safeguarding support and free CPD (trauma-informed practice, autism, anxiety, de-escalation, etc.)

You will bring

  • Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to teach from Year 3 up to GCSE level
  • A calm, patient, relationship-first approach with exceptional rapport-building skills
  • Confidence adapting lessons in the moment to meet emotional and sensory needs
  • Current Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service is a bonus) and safeguarding training
  • Full driving licence and own car (essential - mileage paid at 45p per mile + travel time)

We offer

  • Highly competitive rates: depending on experience and qualifications
  • Flexible contracts to fit around your life - part-time top-ups or full-time guaranteed hours
  • Paid planning, travel and liaison time
  • Ongoing training and peer support
  • The chance to genuinely change lives - many of our students have not been in education for months or years

If you are the kind of tutor who can connect with a child who hasn't spoken to an adult in weeks, turn a meltdown into a breakthrough, and still get them to pass their GCSE Maths, we want to hear from you.
