SEMH / EBD Teaching Assistant - Primary (KS1 & KS2)
Full Time | Monday-Friday | Temp to Possible Perm | Start ASAP or Jan 2026

Are you someone who brings a calm presence, a child-first mindset, and the resilience needed to support pupils with additional needs? We are working with a well-respected primary school that places therapeutic practice at the heart of everything they do. They are seeking an SEMH/EBD Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant to support pupils across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

This role offers the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on children who require patience, consistency, and compassionate guidance to help them engage with learning. Whether you come from a mainstream or specialist background, your ability to support pupils with behavioural challenges and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs will be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing targeted support to pupils in KS1 and KS2 with SEMH/EBD needs

  • Promoting a therapeutic, relational and trauma-informed approach to behaviour

  • Maintaining a calm and steady presence to help pupils feel safe and understood

  • Working alongside teaching staff and the pastoral team to support pupil progress

  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday

  • Temporary role with the potential to become permanent

Person Specification

  • Warm, patient, and emotionally resilient

  • Confident in building positive relationships with children

  • Able to remain calm, consistent, and reassuring under pressure

  • Previous SEMH/EBD experience is desirable but not essential for the right individual

  • Dedicated to helping children develop emotionally, socially, and academically
