Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism Specialist (Non-Verbal Support)
Location: North Nottingham
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

The Role

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to support pupils' learning, communication, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for non-verbal children with autism.
  • Use alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, AAC devices).
  • Assist with personal care and sensory needs where required.
  • Foster a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to implement individual education plans (IEPs).

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with autism and/or non-verbal communication needs (preferred but not essential).
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to each child's unique needs.
