Deputy Head / Assistant Headteacher
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Likely for the remainder of the academic year
Phase: EYFS / Key Stage 1 focus
Location: Maldon, Essex

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Deputy Head or Assistant Headteacher to join a welcoming, forward-thinking primary school from January 2026. This role is expected to run for the rest of the academic year, with the potential for extension.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A thorough understanding of EYFS and KS1 pedagogy, progress measures, and curriculum expectations

  • A strong track record of driving high-quality teaching and learning

  • Proven experience supporting staff development, including coaching, mentoring, and leading teams

  • The ability to model and promote excellent behaviour management and a positive school culture

  • Experience analysing data to raise attainment and close gaps

  • Confidence leading on safeguarding, pupil well-being, and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment

  • Strong organisational skills to assist in timetabling, strategic planning, and day-to-day operations

  • The capacity to communicate effectively with parents, governors, external agencies, and wider stakeholders

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate leader who can make an immediate and meaningful impact. You will work closely with the Headteacher to help shape the strategic direction of the school while ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, and care.
