General Classroom Teaching Assistant

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed General Classroom Teaching Assistants to join our network of supportive schools. In this rewarding role, you will work alongside qualified teachers to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment, helping pupils of all abilities thrive.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities.
  • Working with individual students and small groups, particularly in literacy and numeracy, to help them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Assisting with classroom management, promoting positive behaviour and a safe, focused atmosphere.
  • Preparing learning materials, setting up classrooms, and creating displays of children's work.
  • Monitoring and recording pupils' progress, providing detailed feedback to teachers.
  • Offering support during school outings, sports events, and potentially break/lunchtime duties.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Experience of working with children in a school or similar setting (paid or voluntary).
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) in English and Maths are usually required).
  • Relevant qualifications such as an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (desirable, but not always essential for entry-level).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • A patient, flexible, and resilient approach to the demands of a busy school environment.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
