Job Description

Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a welcoming primary school in Bury in their search for a dedicated and confident Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant. This full-time role involves providing consistent 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with an EHCP. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring the child can access learning, feel secure in the classroom environment, and make strong academic and personal progress.

This position requires a practitioner who is calm, proactive, and able to build a trusting relationship with a child who has autism and ADHD. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver tailored support that reflects the pupil's needs, using clear communication and structured routines. A strong understanding of autism-friendly approaches such as visual tools, explicit modelling, consistent expectations, and strategies for emotional regulation would be highly desireable.

Your daily responsibilities will include adapting learning tasks, breaking down instructions, and providing reassurance and encouragement to maintain engagement. You will help the pupil navigate transitions, manage sensory or attention-related challenges, and develop positive learning behaviours throughout the school day. The ability to remain consistent, patient, and reflective in your practice is key.

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has significant experience supporting children with SEND, ideally autism and/or ADHD.

  • Can implement visual, organisational, and communication strategies effectively.

  • Works collaboratively with teaching staff to deliver high-quality, personalised provision.

  • Demonstrates empathy, resilience, and a genuine commitment to supporting children's wellbeing.

  • Is ready to make a positive impact from day one.

In return, you will join a supportive, forward-thinking school environment where your contribution is valued and your professional development is encouraged. You will also receive dedicated support from Tradewind Recruitment throughout your placement.

If you are passionate about making a meaningful difference in a child's school experience and are seeking a rewarding, long-term role in a friendly Bury primary setting, we would love to hear from you.
